When Dacapo was founded in 2003 the Grand Old Man stainless in Denmark, Mr. Erik Sylvest was taking part, this time from the sideline. A man with stainless steel practically flowing in his veins could then look back and take credit for the creation of Damstahl as well as Inox and finally Dacapo Stainless.
Leaving behind a lifelong successful career in stainless steel Erik passed away a decade ago in March 2007 aged 71. Shortly prior to his death, Erik contributed to the development of Dacapo’s general business strategy, and in particular, to the strategy we are following for our fittings product group.
“Clearly I am proud of his imprint on our strategy – he was after all my father” says Kristian Sylvest, CEO at Dacapo. “We are very privileged that a man at his age and with his experience could be so visionary, and I feel it is actually quite remarkable” Kristian adds.
The strategy, which has proved to be strong as well as durable, has supported our uninterrupted growth in our business over the last 10 years, not least within the fittings category.
In fact, over the last decade we have six-doubled our sales of fittings, and we now sell 3,5 million pieces of fittings equivalent to around 2270 tons annually. This certainly makes Dacapo one of the leading stockiest within stainless steel fittings in Europe.
Dacapo’s central warehouse for fittings is located in Helmond, Holland close to Eindhoven. It is one of the biggest, if not the biggest, stock of stainless steel fittings in Europe.
Our fittings warehouse team works with a fully integrated IT-system with fully automated warehouse equipment and wireless hand scanners. This facilitates a paperless work process, with maximum speed and accuracy at all levels. Everything is done within one routine, and the electronic trail makes it simple for us to maintain 100 % traceability.

Dacapo supply fittings to more than 45 countries, and delivery options span from day-to-day delivery to consignment stocks in specialized containers, which we place on-site with our customers and on construction sites. Two years ago, we bought the first two containers, now we have more than 10 containers packed with fittings, placed in eight different countries.
